Kinja'd!!!

a sweet old Galaxie 500 I snapped on a spring break trip to Charleston, SC

Hello everyone, I know I haven’t been around in awhile, but I miss you guys. That said, I have tried to focus a lot more on my offline life since it’s my last semester of high school. I’ve hung out with my friends more, made some new ones, and even recently (poor timing since I leave for college in 4 months, I know) started going out with a girl I really like. I’ve also been focusing on finishing senior year just strong enough to keep my college scholarship for next year, and I’ve been doing a ton of extracurricular stuff, too. The old GX has been running like a clock for the 10,000 miles and 14 months I’ve owned it, and the list of things I eventually want to do to it just keeps growing and growing. However, those plans will likely stay shelved until awhile after college, as I will have to take out student loans, but whatever, nothing unexpected there. After the Christmas season, orders on the euro plates stopped coming in pretty much entirely, and I know that not everyone who was interested got one (so, reminder, they are available !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! !). I’ve also gotten a lot more into photography since getting my camera, and really enjoy just going out and shooting. Anyway, I’m gonna try to be a little more active on here once, especially once exams are over early next month. Now, some more pictures I’ve taken!

Awesome photos! Your editing style lends itself really well to old cars and architecture.

Nice pics. That 66 Galaxie is very similar to my first car, down to the same hubcaps. The pictured car, without an engine badge, could be a 6cyl car - which would be unusual (or maybe is just debadged).

Welcome back. Nice shots! Really dig soft earthy tones of some of them. I’ve tried that a few times and can never get it quite right.

Thanks! My Lightroom trial ran out and even though it’s only $10 a month I can’t justify paying for it to myself, so I just use VSCO on my phone, and I have VSCO X ($20/year) which gives me access to the film-emulating presets. I believe I used Kodak Ultramax 400 for the earthy ones. Seriously, though, those film presets are pretty kickass.

I downloaded tons of Photoshop/Lightroom presets a while back just because they were being offered for free (some for a limited time) and I never use them. Not because I’m better than that (I most certainly am not!), but because there are too many to sort through to find what I’m looking for. I literally have a dropdown list that is at least 300 to 400 presets. It’s so many! I did use them a little when I got them all. I liked being able to see the settings so that I could learn how to do that on my own. I should revisit them and find a few that I really like to use a starting point for stuff.

I’ll be honest... since the dawn of Photoshop, I never paid for it. I feel a little guilty. But I wasn’t doing anything of real consequence. Eventually, I was editing concert pics for my gig reviewing and photographing shows for the local paper. Even then, it wasn’t like I was freelancing and selling shots for $500 a piece to a major publication. I was up to the full suite of products that included Photoshop 6 or whatever the last one was before the monthly thing. After a while, I started getting frustrated with PS6 and gave the monthly thing a try. I haven’t looked back. It’s so worth the $10 a month. I get that it might not be worth it for you right now, but when you feel it is worth it, it’ll totally be worth it.

Well, I do like the Adobe programs, but I’m trying to save some money for spending at college (thinking of doing senior pictures this summer to help with that so I’ll probably end up getting LR anyway), and I know it’s not like it’s that expensive, I’m just trying to save as much I can. Besides, I still have a copy of Photoshop CS6 Extended on the family computer that I torrented and taught myself on when I was like, 12 or so lol.

I feel ya. $10 a month adds up. College is important and not cheap.
